About the Minnesota Comets Organization

Mission Statement
To provide a quality program in a competitive environment that is well structured and supervised with quality coaches and directors. Our goal
is to expand basketball opportunities for athletes by fostering the development and application of individual basketball skills,
sportsmanship and team play while building self-esteem.

Organization
The MN Comets is the accepted name used for the Amateur Athletic
Union (AAU) basketball teams sponsored by the Central MN Basketball Club, Inc. (CMBC). CMBC is registered as a corporation with the state
of Minnesota and is designated as a 501c(3) tax exempt, non profit organization. This club serves, but is not limited to Central Minnesota.

Benefits of Participation
Since our inception in 1993, Comet players have participated in high school basketball programs and many have played college basketball
as well.
• Providing players with the opportunity to meet new players and to
enjoy basketball.
• Developing various individual and team basketball skills.
• Learning to cooperate and compete in a challenging basketball    environment.
• Developing a sense of achievement which leads to a positive self    image and leadership skills.
• Developing interest and desire to continue with basketball.
• Developing speed, strength and endurance.

Membership
Participation is sought throughout much of the year from basketball
players between the ages of 11 and 17, parents, guardians and fans.
Our directors, age level coordinators, and committee members are all volunteers, while the coaches affiliated with this club are hired and paid
an honorarium for their contracted services. Together as mutually supportive partners, CMBC is able to provide a well established and organized program at a minimal cost.
